SFLC Backports

We do various backports for Ubuntu. Currently, we have active backport trees available for feisty and hardy. Historically, we've left up backport trees for previous work we did for dapper, edgy and gutsy.

Most of the backported packages come from more recent releases (mostly sid) but some are new packages of software not elsewhere available packaged for Debian or Ubuntu.

At times, we have patched the software. You may want to look at the list of patches before using our packages. Usually, the patches are benign and well documented, but we can make no guarantees.

Using our repository

First, add the following line to your /etc/apt/sources.list file:

deb http://backports.softwarefreedom.org DISTRIBUTION main contrib non-free

where DISTRIBUTION can either be dapper, edgy, or feisty.

Next, you'll need to add the GPG key of BradleyMKuhn to /etc/apt/trusted.gpg. These commands should do it:

gpg --keyserver pgpkeys.mit.edu --recv-key DB41B387
gpg -a --export DB41B387 | sudo apt-key add -
