Antimatter

Antimatter is a Open Source and Free Software project to create a client/matter database system, and more generally a time tracking and time sheet system, done via project categorization.

Most legal organizations and/or law firms need to track their work by two general keys: The client the work is done for, and the specific matter that the work relates to.

Other organizations besides legal ones also need to keep track of their time data. Examples include consultants who do billing, or employers who need to handle budgeting for multiple departments.

The initial application is simply to keep track of time worked on various matters, and a simple workflow tool for approve opening of new project categories.

AntiMatter is part of Loblaw.

Similar Projects

Some net.research seems to indicate various attempts have been historically to write this sort of software. Most of the projects seem defunct or address the problem only very narrowly. Here are a few:

  • TTRaq, seems actively worked on by one developer. I think this system could be made compatible with it via a database view. We need to address some more complex things.
  • PHPTimeClock, seems the project of a sole developer and has not had effort since mid-2006. A very simple feature set. I also think it could be compatible with this with a simple DB view.

If you know of other projects, please let us know and we'll add them here.
